Guides

Why an old myQ tutorial may not work.

A guide can describe a real setup from the past and still be the wrong instructions for your equipment today. Check the dependencies before changing your home.

Two changes worth recognizing

myQ Home Bridge

The product was discontinued in June 2022. The manufacturer says myQ/HomeKit support ended June 15, 2024. A tutorial built around that bridge needs historical context.

Home Assistant

Home Assistant removed its myQ integration in version 2023.12 after access restrictions. An older integration setup screen is not evidence of current availability.

Audit a tutorial in four checks

  1. Publication and update date

Look for an actual review of the instructions, not just a recently changed page date.

  2. Exact hardware and app

Match model, generation, firmware, consumer versus Community app, and country.

  3. Every service in the chain

Confirm that each integration still exists and offers the action shown. A trigger or close action does not establish an open action.

  4. Current official instructions

Compare the tutorial with manufacturer or partner documentation before linking accounts, paying, or resetting equipment.

Keep access and safety intact

Do not follow instructions that require defeating safety sensors, sharing account passwords, or bypassing authentication restrictions. Avoid treating an unofficial workaround as manufacturer-supported functionality.

If the official instructions do not establish the feature you want, keep the limitation visible and choose a verified route that fits your setup.
